A Medisafe alternative with no subscription
People search for this after an app they used for years started asking for a subscription. This page sets out what is different, using the other app's own published information, and says where the other app is the better choice.
What each one is
- Medisafe is a medication app. Its own help page says that from 1 January 2026 it requires a monthly or annual subscription outside the U.S.
- Pillfolk is a household medication list and log. The web version records what you enter, lets you mark doses as taken, and prints the list. It does not send reminders.

Who should pick which
- Look at a phone reminder app, or your phone's own alarms, if you need an alarm today. Pillfolk's web version cannot send reminders.
- Pick Pillfolk if you want a clear list of who takes what, a log of what was marked as taken, and a printable page for a doctor, a school or a sitter, without a subscription or an account.
Pillfolk records what you type. It never calculates a dose, checks interactions or gives medical advice, and it is not a substitute for asking your pharmacist or prescriber.
Price: Free for one person. $14.99 once to add everyone else.
Pillfolk stores what you type and shows it back as a list and a log. It never calculates a dose, suggests a timing, checks interactions or gives medical advice. Strength is shown exactly as you entered it. The web version sends no reminders.
